A Work In Progress/ My First eBay Sale

So basically, I am writing this with a cat on my lap, three dogs on couches behind me, and a crocheting supply box and my current project in front of me. I've decided its time to start keeping track of my projects and the stuff that I sell that's handmade. Maybe a blog can help me get some business and further help me in my goal to raise enough money to move to Australia (yes, you read that right) and marry my fiance.

That being said, I think I'll go ahead and post my first eBay purchase project: The Hello Kitty Hair Bow.

Admittedly, I didn't take as many photos of the project as I should have, but I'll give you the general idea of what I had to do. A few months back, I found a way to make cute HK medallions out of something I already owned. So I made them out of polymer clay, fired them up and painted over them with white semi-gloss paint. Then I would use my random assortment of paints in order to make a cute looking little medallion.
So here's the painted medallion. It already has its resin coat on it, but you can tell it looks awesome. I had, in the past, dealt with finding a way to cover the ones I made with a clear coat. I tried using the gloss clear coat that many craft stores sell in spray paint cans, but after they 'dried' I had problems with EVERYTHING sticking to them. My dad mentioned that it had to do with the fact that since the paints were water based, the paints made it so that the spray wouldn't seal and cure properly. -.-

So my dilemma was finding something that would seal without causing any sticky issues. That's when I came across this wonderful jewelry resin. Sure, there were lots of other choices at Michaels, but they were in large quantities for large amounts of money. This set was $10 and you actually don't need to use much to seal anything (I did like 8 bottle caps and a few other small items with just 2 teaspoons, but that's another story for another post). But its wonderful stuff and you can pick some up here.

I assembled the bow using a combination of sewing, hot glue and super glue (just to be sure!) and let it set up before packing it up in the *ahem* box.

I didn't want to throw the bow into a padded envelope and then have it get all squished and crumpled in transit, so I glued together some cardboard to be used as a way of protecting the bow. Then I wrapped it in cute paper and put a ribbon around it.

I added a card on top to sort of act as like an item label, or something like that, then I put it in the envelope with some other goodies and now its on its way!

So basically, that's it. As of right now, I'm still waiting for feedback from the buyer, but from the communication I had with her sounds like she's going to love it. If you're interested in purchasing one of these bows, here's my eBay account The Crafty Cosplayer where you can pick one up as long as its listed. While you're there, check out my other items too!
